Jobs & Economy

Maine’s economy can be world class. But in order to get there, we need to focus on the things we are best at and then excel in those fields.
That means concentrating our resources where they can be most effective. It means being honest with ourselves about the fact we can’t do everything for everyone. And it means we need to be better prepared to take risks in order to reap rewards.
I want every part of Maine to thrive. And I believe that private enterprise, not government programs, is the best hope of achieving that goal. As Governor, I will work with communities and regions to identify their strengths and economic aspirations, and I will help Maine people unlock their greatest economic potential.
Every government policy can be harmonized with creating jobs, but no public policy can be allowed to stand in the way of Maine people building a better future for themselves, their families and their communities. In fact, job creation will be more successful with fewer, and simpler, government regulations. My administration will be charged with reducing the unnecessary or redundant regulatory burdens placed on Maine businesses.
Maine cannot wait for a stronger economy to simply come along. We need to go out and bring private sector jobs to Maine as soon as we can. That’s what I do – I bring jobs to Maine. I know how to do it, and I know what we need to be successful in our efforts.
When creating jobs is the critical mission, it is time for a job creator to come forward. Let’s build a future that provides the best possible lives for us and for our children.
